The full-time Ph.D. program has a minimum duration of three years, including coursework, and a maximum of six years. And, the part-time Ph.D. program has a duration of four years. An extension of up to two years may be granted.

The eligibility criteria include possessing a relevant Master's degree or its equivalent, with a certain minimum percentage of marks. Specific criteria vary based on the chosen Ph.D. program.
Is it possible for individuals holding a Post Graduate Diploma to be eligible for enrollment in a Ph.D. program?

What is the admission procedure?
The admission procedure begins with the submission of your comprehensive and accurate application form. Once your application is accepted as complete, you will receive an invitation to participate in an Entrance Test, unless you are exempt from this step. Following the test, there will be an Interview conducted at the university campus, as per the scheduled date. It's important to note that you are eligible to take part in the selection process for a specific PhD Program (whether full time or part time) only once within a single session. Please be aware that the Registration fee is non-refundable.
Do the Ph.D. degrees awarded by AIU hold international validity?
Absolutely. AIU's recognition under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act of 1956 and its esteemed membership in the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) establish the international validity of its Ph.D. degrees. These degrees, covering a range of subjects, are acknowledged and accepted not only within India but also worldwide.
Are foreign nationals and NRIs eligible to apply?
Yes, foreign nationals and NRIs can apply. An AIU (Association of Indian Universities) certificate is mandatory for them.
Is work experience necessary for applying to the program?
Work experience is not mandatory, but for part-time applicants, employment verification details and an NOC are required at the time of registration.
How is the selection process conducted?
The selection process involves an Entrance Test and an Interview. Candidates exempt from the Entrance Test will only appear for the Interview.
What is the format of the Entrance Test?
The Entrance Test is 90 minutes long, with 100 objective-type questions divided into two sections – General (50 marks) and Subject Specific (50 marks).
Does success in the Ph.D. entrance test guarantee admission into the Ph.D. program?
No, success in the entrance test is not a guarantee of admission. After the entrance test, candidates are required to participate in an interview that focuses on their research interests and plans. Admission for candidates who pass the interview is contingent upon the availability of slots in the program.
Are there any exemptions for candidates from the Ph.D. entrance test?
Yes, candidates who have successfully cleared NET, SET, SLET, GATE, JRF, or hold an M. Phil in the relevant discipline, as well as those who are recipients of fellowships such as UGC, CSIR, ICMR, DBT, RGNF, MANF, DST Inspire, and NBHM, will be exempted from the entrance examination for the duration of the validity of the relevant test. However, they will still need to participate in the Personal Interview as part of the admission process.
What is the interview process like?
The interview, conducted by the Faculty Research Committee, allows candidates to discuss their research interests and alignment with the Ph.D. program.
Is the Ph.D. program available in a distance learning mode?
No, Aryavart International University does not provide Ph.D. programs through distance learning.
How is a research topic or preliminary research idea determined?
The research topic is initially formulated by the candidate. It can be refined in collaboration with the assigned Guide and Co-Guide after the candidate's selection. The ultimate approval rests with the University's Competent Authority.
What is the class schedule for full-time and part-time candidates during the first year of coursework?
Full-time Ph.D. candidates attend classes on weekdays, typically scheduled between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Part-time Ph.D. students have classes on Saturdays and Sundays, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Please note that the schedule is fixed and cannot be adjusted, especially during the first semester, as classes are conducted collectively for the group.
Is a Guide assigned to me by the university, or do I choose one myself? If so, when does this happen?
Upon admission to the PhD program, the university assigns a Guide to each candidate. The assignment is made considering factors such as the Guide's availability, the candidate's research area, and the candidate's preferences. This selection occurs after the candidate has joined the program and has had the opportunity to meet with all eligible guides at the university.
Is it possible to complete the coursework at my workplace?
Unfortunately, there are no arrangements or relaxations in the rules that allow for such an option.
Is there any relaxation in the duration for certain categories?
Yes, female Ph.D. scholars and persons with Disabilities (with over 40% disability) may get an extension of up to two years, subject to Vice-Chancellor's approval.
Are there any provisions for maternity leave during the program?
Yes, women candidates can avail Maternity leave/Child Care Leave for up to 240 days once during the program.
