At The Aryavart International University, we believe that education must be rooted in the dignity, freedom and equality of every individual. The Human Rights Cell has been constituted to promote awareness of human rights among students, faculty and staff, to build a campus culture founded on respect and non-discrimination, and to extend the values of the Constitution of India beyond the classroom into the community we serve.

The Cell works in the spirit of the guidelines of the University Grants Commission and the National Human Rights Commission on human rights education in higher educational institutions.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create an informed and sensitised university community in which the rights and dignity of every person are understood, respected and protected. The Cell seeks to make human rights a living part of academic and campus life through education, dialogue and outreach, and to ensure that any person who feels that their rights have been disregarded is heard with fairness, confidentiality and care.

Key Objectives

• Awareness: Promote understanding of fundamental rights, human rights instruments and constitutional values among students, faculty and staff.
• Sensitisation: Conduct regular workshops, lectures and orientation programmes on dignity, equality, gender sensitivity and non-discrimination.
• Protection: Receive and examine representations relating to the violation of human rights within the University campus and place findings before the Competent Authority.
• Outreach: Extend human rights and legal-awareness activities to the neighbouring communities in collaboration with legal aid authorities, non-governmental organisations and civil society institutions.
• Documentation: Maintain records of activities and representations and submit periodic reports to the Competent Authority.

Activities of the Cell

1. Observance of Human Rights Day

   Human Rights Day is observed every year on 10th December with lectures, panel discussions and student participation.

2. Sensitisation Workshops

   Workshops for students, faculty and non-teaching staff on gender sensitivity, anti-discrimination and the grievance-redressal mechanisms of the University.

3. Orientation for New Students

   Introduction to fundamental rights and duties, campus conduct norms and the support systems available within the University.

4. Competitions and Creative Engagement

   Poster-making, essay, debate and quiz competitions, and screenings of documentaries and short films on human rights themes.

5. Community Outreach and Legal Awareness

   Awareness camps and outreach programmes in nearby villages and schools, organised with legal aid authorities and partner organisations.

6. Annual Plan

   The Cell prepares an Annual Plan of activities for approval of the Competent Authority and reports on its implementation at the close of the academic year.

How to Raise a Concern

1. Submission

   A representation may be submitted by e-mail or in person to the Member-Secretary of the Cell, with relevant details and any supporting documents.

2. Acknowledgement

   An acknowledgement will be issued to the complainant within 24 hours of receipt.

3. Preliminary Review

   The Cell will examine the representation to determine its nature and the appropriate course of action, and may seek further information from the complainant.

4. Reference to the Competent Forum

   Matters falling within the jurisdiction of a statutory committee of the University, such as the Internal Complaints Committee, the Students' Grievance Redressal Committee, the Anti-Ragging Committee or the Equal Opportunity Cell, will be referred to that committee, and the complainant will be informed.

5. Examination and Recommendation

   Representations retained by the Cell will be examined impartially, with an opportunity of hearing to the persons concerned, and the findings and recommendations placed before the Competent Authority.

6. Confidentiality and Protection

   The identity of the complainant is kept confidential to the extent possible, and no person will be subjected to disadvantage for raising a genuine concern in good faith.

Matters Within the Concern of the Cell

• Dignity and Equality: Conduct that undermines the dignity of a student, employee or visitor of the University.
• Discrimination: Unfair treatment on grounds of caste, creed, religion, language, ethnicity, region, gender or disability.
• Freedom of Expression and Association: Concerns relating to the reasonable exercise of expression, belief and peaceful association on campus.
• Accessibility and Inclusion: Barriers faced by Divyangjan students and employees in accessing academic and campus facilities.
• Rights Awareness: Requests for guidance, information or sensitisation programmes on human rights and constitutional entitlements.
• Other Concerns: Any other matter affecting the dignity, safety and well-being of members of the University community.
